“You know, we hired a bookkeeper and he fixed our finances in no time whatsoever.”
Hiring a personal accountant definitely has its advantages. There’s no need to worry about late fees, penalty charges or a nasty visit from the IRS. You can cut costs and save a ton without doing anything too strenuous. Plus, it’s the “thing” to do these days and you’d be following the crowd. Forget about the money – you’ll look cool!
The thing is that not everyone is terrible with money. In fact, some average Joes are accountant esque without realizing they have a skill. Here are four tell-tale signs you have a gift for numbers.
You Owe The Government Nothing
And, don’t think for a minute that they wouldn’t let you know. As soon as the IRS sees a red flag, they act on it straight away. Plus, it’s a federal crime and you can go to jail. But, the fact that you’re walking the streets without a sentence behind bars hanging over your head is an excellent sign. Also, you did it without paying a professional to look at the books and make sure everything was legitimate. As far as needing a bookkeeper goes, this is high on the list of reasons why you’re okay. Carry on, sir/madam.
Please don’t see this as a bad thing because there is nothing negative about saving money. In fact, it’s a skill which parents should pass onto their kids in the hope they will do the same in the future. Being thrifty is a good sign because it means you’re always on the lookout for deals, promotions, and bargains. Think about the last time you went grocery shopping – did you accept the retail price as set in stone? If the answer is you used a multitude of coupons to lower the total, then congrats because financially stable! Accountants help people with deductions but you seem to have it covered.
There’s A Reason You’re Number-Centric
Innate talent is a thing, but real skill flourishes with hard work and drive. Okay, so the majority of people don’t think “I’m going to improve my number literacy.” That would be insane. However, they do things such as enrolling in a study online MBA course or a math-based degree. As a result of their education, something as simple as filing a tax return doesn’t induce fear. If anything, you may quite enjoy the process. Well, you won’t hate it as much as everyone else!
You’re In The Black
Black is good, red is bad. Red is debt and means that the checkbook doesn’t balance at the end of the month. As far as the signs for hiring an accountant go, this is probably the most major one. After all, splashing out for a bookkeeper to save cash is cheaper than the constant, unnecessary expenditures. The fact that everything from your overdraft to your credit card statement doesn’t carry a balance is a very healthy sign.
After reading these signs, are you in desperate need of an accountant? Or, are you able to manage your finances?
