We all love a good bargain and to save money when we shop. The cost of living is increasing, and unfortunately, wages aren’t always following suit. So the majority of us want a deal when we shop.
As you will know, I love to use coupons. I find couponing fun and enjoy it as a hobby. It is just a bonus that I get to save money too. There are a few little-known ways to go about getting coupons, though. Of course, there are the usual ways of getting coupons. The traditional way is to use magazines and newspapers and cut out the coupons. Then just save them up to use when needed (making sure that they are used before their end date of course). There are a few other ways to get coupons, though.
Always check the packaging on food wrappers and cartons; don’t throw them away until you’ve checked! There may be voucher codes on food packaging too. The ultimate is finding one that offers a free item. If this is the case, stock up. You’d be able to double up the amount of your food storage.
I have found that often, supermarkets will have leaflets or a store magazine. Be sure to look out for them by the till or by the store entrance. You could grab a few and sort through them. It may be for only that store, or for the chain if it is one, but it is all good. Getting money off the things we have to buy, like food, is the best, in my opinion.
Another way for getting coupons is to look on social media. Brands will often have an incentive for liking their page on Facebook or for following them on social media. Search for your favourite brands and see what they have to offer. Did you know there are couponing or money saving groups online? I know of several on Facebook. They are great for connecting with like-minded money savers and finding extra deals. Members of the group will post on the page about deals that they have found. So have a good read through and you could even share your bargains or deals that you’ve found.
I have also found that if you like a product, it is worth writing to the company to tell them. Who doesn’t like to get praise? More often than not, you will be sent back money off or a freebie coupon. This works for complaints too. As a rule, they want to keep customers happy, so if you aren’t, let them know. Quite often they will give you coupons to try their other products or ranges.
There other ways to save, other than couponing, though. When you are shopping, be sure to look for offers, like ‘2 for 1’ or ‘buy one get one free’. For these things, it is worth stocking up. Thinking ahead is a great idea when you see these deals too. Maybe only one size of diapers is on offer, and your baby isn’t yet in that size. They will be eventually so fill your cart and make a saving. Planning ahead goes for different kinds of foods or offers on gift items too.
When you are shopping, it is important to be flexible with what you buy. Different brands will be on offer and have deals, at different times. I think that this is particularly true for makeup and beauty brands. Simply swap the brands and save. You never know, you may even enjoy the new brand. There is usually one different brand on a deal each time I go to the drugstore.
If you are into shopping online, there are a lot of deals to be found. When you visit a page for the first time, there may be a pop up to sign up to their mailing list. After doing this, they usually offer you a discount code. If you have a few email addresses, try signing up with other email addresses too. Then you get to have the discount twice. So great, right? If you don’t want to have these emails come through to your work or home email, consider setting up a separate one. Then you know where all your offers will be sent.
