I have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP machine every night. Unfortunately one of my cats likes to chew on my tubing. After replacing the tubing twice, I tried to just tape up the holes the third time with electrical tape but after breathing in the horrible smell from the electrical tape I knew I needed to find something else. I purchased a new tube but I wasn’t sure how I would keep my cat away from it. I have no choice but to have the cats sleep in my room because that is where their litter box is. I tried using the large tubing that is attached to the back of a washing machine but the CPAP’s tube ends were too big to fit through. I wracked my brain trying to figure out something that would keep the cats away, protect the tube, and still be comfortable for me.
And then the idea hit me. I was at Big Lots and saw pool noodles that were hollow in the middle and figured for a few dollars, I’d give them a try. I made a slit down one side of each noodle with a razor blade and put the CPAP tubing inside. I had to cut the second pool noodle down to size since it was a little too long. I was afraid that my cats would still try to chew on the noodle but at least the tube would be protected. I figured if they did start chewing on the noodle I would spray some cat repellent on it. Much to my surprise my cats have left the noodles alone and I really like the support the pool noodles give the tubing. The longer noodle keeps the tube upright and the smaller tube comes over my head and down to my nose while keeping the tubing from laying on top of me. I am very comfortable with my new set up and it only cost a few dollars. If you have a CPAP or know someone who does, give it a try. Good luck! Sweet dreams!
The pool noodles are hollow so it makes slipping the tubing inside very easy and it fits perfectly inside.
