I know this is an obvious tip but sometimes it’s overlooked. Make sure to always check out the Clearance Racks at your local stores. You never know what you’ll find. Yesterday at one of the CVS stores that I stopped in I found a whole rack of 75% off Clearance items. I ended up getting coin sorting banks for $3.50 each for my children, a Cris Angel Magic Kit for $3.75 (was originally $20 I think), fleece throw blankets for $.62…YES, $.62 each so I bought 10 of them, and several other goodies.
Today I did even better. I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond where you can sometimes find really great clearance deals. At Bed, Bath, and Beyond they mark things down just because the box is a little damaged. I ended up buying a $60 10x magnifying florescent lighted mirror for only $29.99 because the corner of the box was a little dented. There was no other damage. I’ll be able to see every little wrinkle, pore, and stray hair now! LOL
Then I found a box with a beautiful vanity stool that was regularly $40 and it was marked down to $19.99 because the sticker said it was missing screws. I figured I could just buy new screws so I bought it. I put it together tonight and guess what? The package of screws was torn but there were none missing. I saved 50% and bought a beautiful vanity stool that had nothing wrong with it.
And my favorite score was a $50 Turbo Spin and Spray Shower Head Combo set for only $24.98. The box was a little torn but the plastic clamshell packaging that contained the shower head was still sealed.
AND because it was Bed, Bath, and Beyond I was able to use 20% off coupons on my items and get an additional 20% off!!! And the only damage to any of my items were tiny dents or rips in the BOXES! So always check out the clearance department.
And one more tip. If you are in a store and you want to purchase an item that has a dented or torn box but it isn’t on clearance, ask the sales manager. Often they will discount the item for you. Maybe not 50% like I had today at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I know that Ross, TJ Maxx, Kohl’s, etc. usually will give a 10% discount for dented boxes, torn packages, etc. Happy deal hunting!
